Shokazoba is a nine piece horn driven funk powerhouse! They began in 2005 as a Fela Kuti tribute project and now produce original work aiming to inspire greater human awareness through conscious funky fusion jazz with progressive topical lyrics. Voted “Best of the Valley” five times, nominated as “Artists of the Year” by the New England Music Awards, and recognized with several honorable distinctions by the African Jazz Review, Shokazoba performs top quality, high energy music designed to move your feet, inspire the mind, and activate our souls!

”Sometimes a record really can wake you up from whatever slump you’re in, and make you feel refreshed. For an amateur of New World music like myself, Shokazoba is perfect; the band’s music is succinct, exciting, and new and makes you want to listen to the genre for a deeper understanding.” – CMJ

Resident DJs Sterling + Shaman Vybez will be showcasing Latin American and African music that created the Afro Beat sounds. Dj Sterling had recently visited Guatemala and was inspired with the music he had heard while on his visit. He called up Shaman Vybez and asked if he was down to rock a party featuring AfroBeats, Cumbia, Latin, Reggae, Boogaloo and Reggaeton. So “This Is AfroBeat” was created.
