Dirty River (Rhinebeck, NY):

Dirty River began as a guitar/drums duo in early 2012. Shortly before releasing their debut album in June 2013, bass was added and a new drummer stepped in. The grungy, alt-rock sound generally stayed the same, but their somewhat intimate vibe as a duo turned more upbeat and confident. You could say that Dirty River are pulling alt/rock deeper into blues primitivism, or you could say that they leaven their bleak, frank, haunted blues with the occasional dash of naïve alt/rock melody and modern half-time groove.

Ulträäm (Kingston, NY):

Ulträäm was formed in Kingston NY in 2013 , born from a semi-regular get together in the back room of a dusty warehouse. Initially conceived as a free form antidote to their regular musical pursuits the two guitars and drums trio, Turco ( Trans Am / Chron Turbine / Geezer ) Grasshopper ( Mercury Rev / Luna / Five Dollar Priest ) and Matthew ( Robyn Hitchcock / Parakeet / Duke McVinnie ) took their improvising take on early 70’s Miles Davis and the Motorik funk of Krautrockers Can out of the windowless back room to various stages throughout the Hudson Valley and Brooklyn. Joined by unofficial “after midnight “ mayor of Uptown Mark Ferraro on pocket trumpet and post-beat poetry and Woodstock studio maven D. James Goodwin ( Snowflake ) as double drummer or low end analogue synth and bass player this quintet also regularly features Eli Walker ( Snowflake / Stick Lips ) in the role of bass provider. For fans of Dreamweapon , Tony Conrad , La Monte Young , Faust , Lenny Bruce , Don
Cherry , Les Rallizes Dénudés , Public Image Limited and Chet Baker.
