Intuitive Folk.

“An unlikely mix of Aaron Neville, the Baka people, and Joni Mitchell, Cluck’s singing is unaffected yet unusual.” -NPR

“Diane Cluck is a virtuosic talent with an emotionality that feels at once ancient and alien. Her mastery of her voice as an ecstatic instrument is so compelling.” -Antony Hegarty (of Antony & The Johnsons)

“Bell-clear and hotly austere, her lithe, dynamic voice hasn’t much kin. Categorizing her as folk is simplistic…(Cluck) emanates something humble but mythic. Appalachia or ancient Athens? Both hum and lilt in the unpretentious drama of her airy songs.” -Time Out New York

A native New Yorker, Emily Ritz spent nearly a decade in the Bay Area, making art and performing and releasing music with bands Yesway, Honeycomb, and DRMS. Though her music and art remain very inspired by the lush landscapes of Northern California, Ritz moved back East to Hudson, NY in 2016. There, she began performing under her own name for the first time and recorded her first solo album.

Ritz’s otherworldly soul music plays at the fault line between organic and electric. While her thoughtful, intimate songwriting and delicate fingerpicking are akin to the contemporary folk of Jessica Pratt and Angel Olsen, electronic neo-soul twinges call forth the seductive trip-hop of James Blake.
